It's Almost That's Time Again... New Year, New Resolutions!

Since 2011 is very close to coming to a close, it's time to starting thinking about 2012 and what goals we want to set for ourselves to accomplish this year. Here was my list for this past year, some things were accomplished and some were not....

I have cut back on my drinking pop tremendously. I say now it's just a couple a week, and sometimes not even that. Have I completely cut it out? No, but I have made huge improvements in this area.

Did I become a runner this year? No. However I am now a part of The Shape Project and I am loving it. I attend bootcamp 3 days a week and I am way more fit than I was this time last year. I'm still working on the running, and hopefully some day I'll conquer a race.

We did find a home church, Lifechurch.tv. We love our church and it is amazing how much has changed with us since we've started attending. We both now look forward going to church on Sundays and worshiping. I am so proud, and glad we made this a priority this past year and have found a home. We plan to get more involved with serving over the next year.

I also did lose weight for the wedding. I lost about 15-20 lbs, but since being married have found a few of those lbs back. I'm working on making it a healthy lifestyle and know with patience it will come off and stay off!

Even though I didn't accomplish all my new year's resolutions for 2011, I did make progress in every area. Which that in itself is a big accomplishment. We did meet the most important one, and that was finding a church. It's now time to look ahead in to the new year of 2012 and think about what resolutions and goals I am hoping to accomplish in the new year ahead.

1. Get better about saving. This is something we have struggled with starting out, but I want us to get better about putting money into savings and keeping it there. I'm sure in another year or so we will start strongly considering to start our family, and we want to be financially secure when that happens.

2. Become more involved at church. Clete and I have discussed this a little bit and we want to get more involved in our church community. We plan on finding somewhere to serve & volunteer, and also want to get involved with a LifeGroup.

3. Continue with making changes to have a healthy lifestyle. Stay on top of my eating and continue on with bootcamp to get to the number on the scale I want to see, as well as feel better about myself and get into those smaller jeans!

4. Be more Green. Start paying all our bills online. I will never be a full forced recycling freak, but I would like to be a little more green. I also want to start paying our bills online to cut down on the cost of checks and postage... and because it's almost 2012. I am one of the few people I know, besides my mother, that still writes checks.

These are my new year resolutions for 2012. They are all very attainable, and hopefully when this next year comes to a close I can look back on these things and see where I have improved these areas of my life. until next time... XOXO

A Wonderful Christmas!

The Griffiths
Clete, Lyndi & Honey
Christmas 2011

We had a wonderful Christmas weekend and we hope you and yours did too! Friday afternoon about 5PM, Clete and I were loaded up and hit the road to Muskogee for the Christmas weekend. We arrived to my parent's a little after 7PM, and chilled there for the evening. Honey was so excited to see us! I think she missed her Mommy & Daddy last week, but she definitely had fun at her Queenie & Poppy's house! A couple of my parent's friends came over Friday evening and we Sat around drinking sangrias and chatting. It was a low key evening, very quiet and relaxing.

Saturday morning Clete woke up early... which I wasn't thrilled about. He got showered and had to go do his Christmas shopping. Such a typical man to not even start until Christmas Eve. Around 1PM we had Christmas with my Mom, Dad and sister. We got lots of nice goodies. Our "Santa" gift this year was Husky floor mats for our car! I was thrilled with that because I've really been wanting some. We also got the typical things... clothes, jewelry, money, etc. We are very blessed! :) Honey also had a good Christmas there too! She got tons of clothes and toys. That pup doesn't even know she is a dog! After we did gifts, we then had lunch which was snacky stuff... queso, meatballs, veggies & crackers with dips, etc. Around 4PM it was time to start getting ready for our Christmas that evening. My grandmothers, Katie's boyfriend, and one of my Mom's best friends and her family joined us. We had a shrimp boil and it was yummy! Of course, it was enough to feed the neighborhood. After dinner, Katie and I cleaned up the kitchen and we all sat around chatting while. Everyone left about 9:30 and then we (me, Clete, Dad, Katie & Kyle) played a game of chicken foot and Mom tried to get her new iPad Santa brought her set up. About 10:30PM we got things together and headed to church for Christmas Eve service. It was beautiful as it always is. After church, Clete and I went back to load up our clothes and head over to his Mom & Dad's.

I was awake early with Honey on Christmas morning, so I sent her to wake everyone up. LOL We all got up and did Christmas with Clete's family that morning. Clete must have been a very good boy this year, because he had a great Christmas over there.. a new xbox with konect, a beer making kit, games, etc. I got mostly clothes and accessories, but that's what I wanted! I feel very blessed that Clete and I have two families we get to spend the holidays with. After we had Christmas, it was then time to head to Clete's Granny's house for Christmas breakfast. We ate and stayed over there for a while before heading back his parents house. We laid around that afternoon then Clete's Mom & Dad fixed a big dinner that evening and his Dad's family came over that evening. Honey also got to play with her cousin, Riley. They wore each other out playing hard. She is still exhausted from it!

Monday morning I got up and got around, then my sister came by to pick me up for our annual day after Christmas shopping tradition. It was a great day, and a successful day of shopping for both of us! My favorite purchase is my new purse I got. I've been looking for one for a while now, and finally found one I had to have! After a full day in Tulsa, she then dropped me back off with Clete and it was time for us to head home. We got home about 8:30PM last night, and then I was up late putting everything away and sorting laundry.

Honey was glad to be home! She had a fun stay at her Queenie & Poppy's, but she was happy to be back home with Mommy & Daddy! She is still wore out from her exciting week and weekend. Tonight I plan on going to the store after work, then coming home and getting all my Christmas things put away. I'll keep my tree up until this weekend, but everything else is being put away. Then I'll have to clean a little (mostly dust), put things back where they belong and get laundry finished.

It was a great Christmas weekend for us!! We got to share it with family and friends, so some precious memories were made. We also kept traditions going, and celebrated the birth of our Savior. We know we are very blessed in so many ways. We're looking forward to what 2012 has in store for us... it's almost here! until next time. XOXO

We Wish You a Merry Christmas!

This morning it finally hit me, and it's starting to feel like Christmas! I got up early with Clete (Friday is usually my day to sleep in) to get us packed so we can hit the road after work to Muskogee. I also made it to work early this morning, and hope I can cut out of here a little early today to get on the road! I got up, showered, packed our clothes, made coffee and started sorting presents and getting them organized to load into the car. I think it's when it finally hit me, tomorrow is Christmas Eve!

I can't wait to be off work and on the road to Muskogee. Clete and I are so anxious to see our baby girl, and I am ready to spend some time and celebrate Christmas with our families! We're hitting the road right after work, then dinner tonight at either My Place BBQ or Hamlin's... two of Muskogee's local famous eateries! Tomorrow early afternoon is Christmas with my Mom, Dad and Katie... then tomorrow evening, Christmas Eve shrimp boil with my family (parents, grandmas, etc.) and the candlelight Christmas Eve service at 11PM. Christmas morning is Christmas at Clete's parents' house, then late morning we head to his Granny's for breakfast (brunch). It should be a great weekend of giving, family and Christmas.

Clete and I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas! May your days be jolly & bright this Christmas weekend!! We also pray for lots of love & laughter for you and your family this season. Safe travels to those of you heading out on the road. until next time... XOXO

Hallelujah, Christ is Born Today!

"Because a baby has been born,
the world has been saved.
We celebrate, celebrate and say,
Hallelujah, praise His Holy Name
Hallelujah, Christ is Born Today!"

This is the chorus of one of my favorite songs on the LifeChurch Carols CD. The song lyrics talk about how Christ has come on Christmas to save the world and set us free. God made a way for us when all hope had been lost. Last night Clete and I attended the Christmas Eve service at our church. It was AMAZING! The worship was awesome, and Pastor Craig preached a wonderful message. It was how God send his son, Emmanuel- meaning God with us, to Earth in the flesh form to save us from our sins. The message was centered around the the carol "O Come Emmanuel." He preached on how God never leaves us. "God is, God was, and God will always be with us." It was a great way to start Christmas and celebrate the birthday of our Savior, the greatest give that has ever been given!

We attended service last night since we will be out of town on Christmas Eve. I was so glad they offered multiple Christmas Eve services and we were able to attend one at our home church. We will go to church in Muskogee on Christmas Eve with my family as well and celebrate Jesus again. After all, he is the true reason for the season. He is the meaning of Christmas!

As you gather over the next few days with friends and family, enjoy your time with them. Also remember to celebrate and give thanks for the greatest gift that's ever been given on Christmas, JESUS!
We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!
until next time... XOXO

'Twas the Week of Christmas...

and all through house, not a creature was stirring because there is no Honey...

Okay, enough with trying to rhyme and be creative! I posted earlier in the week that Honey is staying with her Queenie, Poppy & Aunt KK this week. Friday cannot come quick enough! Clete and I are missing are sweet baby girl tons!! I know she is having a blast though with my parents and sister. They are spoiling her even more rotten than she already was, but we can't wait to get our hands back on her. Our house has been so quiet and calm without her there, but it seems odd. It makes me wonder how we went so long without having her. I've been getting text and pics of her all through the week, and of course talking to her daily. She has been such a good girl! Last night we face-timed with her and that was fun. She is the little princess of the family now and we are so very blessed & grateful that she has come into our lives to brighten them! Here's some pics my sis has sent me from her stay at Queenie & Poppy's house...

We can't wait to see her Friday evening! This Christmas should be fun with her, since it's her first one with us. At my Mom's house she has more presents than anyone. She's SPOILED ROTTEN!! I cannot even imagine what it'll be like when we actually have a baby... but she already thinks she's half human anyways. LOL until next time... XOXO

Facebook Timeline...

is the newest change to Facebook, and I LOVE IT! It is a little weird and an adjustment getting used to, but I really like it. I mostly like that you can easily look back at years from the past. I started looking at things from when I first joined and it was funny to see only wall posts that year.... my my how it's changed! It was a  little sad to look back at the people who used to write on my wall all the time, and realize they are now the people I seldom talk to. But I have come to accept that is just part of life and part of growing older. You grow apart from people and that's okay... your true friends will always be your friends no matter how much time goes between seeing or talking.  This is a Facebook change that I really like! Hopefully soon it'll make everyone change over, because now it's just an option. Just thought I'd blurb about it a sec... until next time. xoxo

We Believe.

It seems so crazy that Christmas is just a few days a way. I know every time I post I say this, but to me it does. It really doesn't even feel much like Christmas to me this year, which I don't like at all. I am already trying to figure out when I'm going to have the time to take down our Christmas decor in the house, which makes me feel like such a scrooge. I am now starting to realize why adults don't love Christmas as much as children. After all the decorating, shopping, planning, cooking, etc. you just get tired. Then you pile having a full time job, a family to keep up with, laundry to do and a house to take care of... baaaah humbag. It just seems like there is never enough time in the day, and I don't miss out on sleep well.

Anyways, as I was sitting there this morning and caught myself thinking about when the tree would come down I thought to myself how ridiculous I was being. I LOVE Christmas time! It's one of my favorite times of the year. I love looking at all the trees and lights. So why in the world am I worried about when it will come down? I put it up in one evening, I'm sure we can figure out an evening to take it down. I don't want to be that person who always rushes through the routine of Christmas, I want to enjoy it! The giving of gifts, time with family, yummy food, surprises... all of it! It's a magical and wonderful time of year.

Let's not forget the true meaning of Christmas. The birth of our Lord and Savior, JESUS! The most precious gift of all was born on this special, Christmas day. In our family, we celebrate Jesus and Santa this time of year. We celebrate both, but keep it separate. Our tradition (with my family) is to have dinner and unwrap gifts on Christmas Eve, then at 11PM we head to church for a candlelight Christmas Eve service. We get out around 12AM, which is the beginning of Christmas morning. So our Christmas morning consists of celebrating the gift of Jesus. The true meaning and reason for the Christmas season... We must never forget the greatest gift that's ever been given!

When we were younger, Santa would come later that night and leave gifts for when we woke up the next morning. It was just part of our tradition... and now that we are older, Santa comes on Christmas Eve and has everything there at one time. We all grow up to find out Santa isn't real, he's just a magical part of our childhood. I've never once thought that my parents were wrong or lied to me about Santa... everyone grows up. Santa was a part of our childhood, and we all have fond memories of the things Santa brought us. I know one day when Clete and I have children of our own we will be Santa and let them believe in magic of Christmas. They will also be raised in a Christian home and be taught about the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus. Jesus will be celebrated in our house for more than just a season, just like he was at our home growing up. Santa only comes around once a year...

This Christmas, don't be a scrooge! Enjoy Christmas and everything that comes along with it! Don't take for granted the time you get to spend with family and friends this season, and be thankful for all your blessings. Also don't fogrget the celebration of the gift that came to us all thousands of years ago in a tiny manger that made a way for you and I both to get to Heaven. We hope your Christmas season is merry & bright!! until next time... XOXO

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

We had a wonderful weekend! It's hard to believe that Christmas is now less than a week away!! This month and entire year has just flown by... in less than two weeks we will have brought in another new year. Back to the weekend, Friday night we just went to dinner and then came home for me to get started on laundry and get us packed for Muskogee. Saturday morning we slept in later than we anticipated, but once we were awake we got ready and hit the road. We arrived in the 'Gee about 2PM and did our usual visits with the grandmas. After we were finished with that, we headed to my parent's house. After being there a short bit, it was then time to start getting ready for the wedding. We attended the wedding of one of my best friend's from middle school & high school, Natalie. The wedding was beautiful and Natalie was a stunning bride! I hope her day was perfect and everything she dreamed it would be. The wedding reception was a winter wonderland, and her wedding cake was so pretty! We had a great time. It was fun chatting with old friends and catching up. I am a little upset I didn't get one pic at the wedding. I forgot my camera at home so I'll just be watching facebook to see what others post. We also got out on the dance floor and stayed there until we closed the party. It was a great evening celebrating Natalie and Brad! We wish them many years of happiness together!

Sunday morning we got up and got around to head to Bluejacket for the Floyd Family Christmas. This is Christmas at Clete's grandparents, and it's crazy! Clete's mother is the youngest of 9 children, so there are tons of people and about 25 little kids running around. This is why it's crazy... not a bad crazy! It's always a good time to get together with everyone! Especially since we only see some of them at this Christmas. We left there around 4PM and started to head back home. We made a pit stop in Tulsa for dinner and gaming, and then got home about 8:30PM last night. It was a good weekend!

the annual family picture at Nannie & Papa's Christmas

I didn't mention that Clete and I are Honey free for the week. My Mom & Dad are keeping her and I'm sure she will be spoiled rotten by Friday. Mom's been wanting to keep her, so since we had a busy day yesterday and will be back to Muskogee on Friday, we thought this would be the best week for it. We already miss her though, and it's only been one day. This must be what it's like when a people leave their kids for the first time... Friday can't get here fast enough!! It's too quiet around the house without her there. It makes me wonder how we went so long without having that sweet baby girl. I know she's having a blast though! Her Aunt KK has been sending me pics, and telling me about their adventures. Katie and Mom were taking her to Petco today to make sure there wasn't anything there she didn't need... OH MY! Can you imagine what it's going to be like once we have a real baby in a few years? Probably no one will be able to stand our kid because it'll be so rotten... oh well, I guess that's what Queenie, Poppy & Aunt KK are for! until next time... XOXO

weigh in wednesday.

It's Wednesday, so it's my weekly Weight Watcher weigh in. Today, the scale was up just a little bit. +1 lb Not horrible, but not great either. However, considering what we've been eating and everything we've been doing I will be happy with only a 1 lb gain. I will get back on plan this week and get it gone before next Wednesday! If this isn't motivation to get back in to the routine of bootcamp, I'm not sure what else would be. Alarm is already set for 4:45AM tomorrow, and there will be NO SNOOZING! I'll keep you posted. until next time... XOXO

Looking Back at 2011.

It's hard to believe it's almost time to bring in another new year. Only about 2 1/2 more weeks are left in 2011... 19 days to be exact. 2011 has been a very exciting year for Clete and I, and it has probably been the most exciting year of my life yet! This time last year, I was looking at 2011 as the "year of new beginnings" and it definitely has been full of many new beginnings for us. Looking back on the past year, many things have happened to make this past year so special for us...

January: closed on our house and moved in.

February: engagement pictures took place and we began pre-marital counseling

March: I turned 24.

April: wedding showers began, Clete turned 24, and Clete and his buddies went to Vegas for his bachelor party.

May: wedding showers concluded, my wedding dress arrived, bridal portraits, bachelorette party

June: WE GOT MARRIED!! took our first trip as Mr. & Mrs. Griffith :) and Clete also started a new job.

July: We made our first big adult purchase as newlyweds, the Jeep.

August: I was introduced to Pinterest (a new addiction), and I also came home to my first home cooked meal from my hubby.

September: Hosted our first "dinner party" at our house (aka I cooked for some friends).

November: We became parents to Honey, and I spent my very first Thanksgiving with the Griffith's.

December:  We celebrated our 1/2 year anniversary of being married, had the anniversary of our engagement, and our first Christmas season in our home and as being married.

It's been a wonderful year for us! We are extremely blessed!! So much has happened this year that makes us in awe of our many blessings. We feel very grateful for all the wonderful things God has given us. It is hard to believe another year is about to come to a close, but we are looking forward to what 2012 will bring our way. until next time...XOXO

Cafe Rio Chicken

This was another one of the easy crockpot recipes my Mom sent me a few weeks ago. We tried it tonight and loved it! It was super easy... just put all the ingredients in the crockpot in the morning, turn on low for 7-8 hours and wala, dinner is ready when you get home! We had peas as our veggie with it tonight, but it would have been even better with rice in my opinion. I did mine a little different than the original recipe and my changes are in italic.

Cafe Rio Chicken
servings: 2
pointsplus: 7 (I put into the weight watcher recipe builder to get pointsplus value.)
+ 2 chicken breasts (could do more if you have a family to feed)
+ 1 1/2 cups of fat free Italian dressing
+ 1 Tbs. minced garlic (I was out, so I used garlic powder.)
+ 1 Tbs. chili powder (I was out, so I used crushed red pepper.)
+ juice of 1 lime
+ 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
put chicken into crockpot then pour in dressing, chili powder and garlic. cook on low for 7-8 hours. remove chicken and shred, then put back into crockpot and add lime juice and cilantro, then cook an additional 30 minutes. I just combined everything this morning and let cook all day. We had  them as whole chicken breasts and it was delicious!  *can serve in tacos, buritos, quesadillas or taco salad.

It was great, and Clete liked it too! I will definitely do it again, and next time I may shred the chicken and do in quesadillas or tacos. It was super easy too, which is definitely a huge plus for me!! Hope you enjoy if you choose to try! until next time... XOXO

This past weekend was a great weekend! We hosted a surprise 21st birthday party for my sister at our house Saturday evening. I had been wanting to blog about it all week because I was busy planning and had no many ideas running through my head, but I couldn't because she reads the blog! It ended up being great! She had no clue until she got to our house, and noticed my aunt and uncle's car in the next door neighbors drive way.

My Mom and Dad arrived Saturday around noon at our house, and Mom and I went to get everything to make for the party. We did meatballs, crackers with a few different dips, chips & salsa, fruit & cheese, chicken salad, a cheese ball, shrimp cocktail, little mini pigs in a blanket... it was quite the spread! I also made sangria, and of course we had beer for the boys.

After we finished up at our house with food, cupcakes & presents, most of us headed down to Bricktown to Michael Murphey's Piano Bar to celebrate Katie turning 21! This was where she had been wanting to go for quite some time, so we made that happen! We arrived there about 10:30PM and stayed until we closed it down about 1:30AM. It was a great evening!!

Sunday we had brunch at Cheever's around noon to end the weekend's festivities. My parents then loaded up and headed back towards Muskogee. Katie was also surprised by some of the people who came to celebrate with her. She had one of her friends, Sarah,  surprise her by coming with my Mom & Dad, and also my parents' great friends, Debbie & Bob Myers came from Muskogee as well for the weekend. Overall, I think she had a great party and a fun time! It was definitely a celebration! I still cannot believe my sister is 21... until next time. XOXO

One Year Later...

It's so hard to believe that a whole year has gone by since the most surprising evening of my life! It was one year ago today, December 11, 2010, that Clete and I got engaged. If you've never heard the story, you can go here to read it. A lot has happened over the past year, but it still doesn't seem possible for it to have already been a whole year. We moved into our first home together. We have gotten married and been Mr. & Mrs. for 6 months as of today! We have also become "parents" to our pup, Honey. It's been a very exciting year for us, and we look forward to many more years together.

LEFT: this pic was right before Clete proposed at the ice skating rink.
RIGHT: one day before our wedding, moments after we got our marriage license.

Happy engagement anniversary & Happy 1/2 year Anniversary Mr. Griffith!! I am so proud to be your Mrs, and blessed to get to live everyday life with my best friend! I'm so happy we get to spend our happily ever after together! XOXO

June 11, 2011: our wedding day, the most magical day of our lives so far!

Happy Friday!

TGIF. It's been a busy week that's coming to a close, but we have just as busy of a weekend ahead! 'Tis the season, right? I LOVE this time of the year, but sometimes it just gets a little too busy. Any big plans for the weekend? I have no clue what we're doing tonight, tomorrow night we have a party and Sunday we have a brunch to go too. Just wanted to pop in, and say HaPPy FRidAy! Have a wonderful weekend! until next time. XOXO

There's No Place Like HOME.

As of today, we've officially been home owners for one year! On this day last year, we bought our house and went under contract on it... basically the "SOLD" sign went into the yard. At that time, it was exciting because we had just bought a house and were embarking on a new journey! After living here for almost a year now, our house has become a home. We've made many memories here and know there are many more to come! Do we plan on staying here forever? NO. However, we do know we will be here for another few years (probably at least another 3-4) at least, and more than likely start our family at this home. It's been fun so far and we are extremely blessed to have a home of our own. There really is "no place like home!"  until next time. XOXO

Happy Birthday Katie Beth!

Happy 21st Birthday to my baby sister! (my only sister) It doesn't seem possible for her to already be 21 and legal. After all, it just seems like yesterday it was ME turning 21 and she's 4 years younger... ouch, that means I'm getting old.

Anyways, this day 21 years ago I got a real live baby doll! I vaguely remember the day she was born, after all I was only 3 1/2. However, I do remember my DeeDee making me take a nap that day and telling me that once I had my nap we would go to Tulsa to meet my new sister because she would be here after my nap. I also remember the baby doll that my Mom & Dad gave me as my big sister gift. That doll may still be at my DeeDee's house, but I'm not sure. I also got the privilege of naming my baby sister! It was my 3rd birthday when my Mom found out she was pregnant, and right away I starting telling people I was having a sister named Katie Beth. Luckily they found out later she was indeed a baby girl, so she already had a name. On December 7, 1990 when my Mom had her she was named Katie Beth McQueen! Where I got that name, I have no idea?! I had a great imagination when I was little... But today I couldn't imagine her without any other name because it fits her perfectly!
I've been a proud big sister since the day she was born! To this day I am still very proud of her and the young woman she become. She's always been my shadow, and though we've have many arguments and disagreements over the past 21 years, I cannot imagine what life would be like without a sister! Sisters share a special bond that isn't explainable, you just know it when you have it. HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY KATIE BETH MCQUEEN!!!  I love you very much and hope you enjoy your day! XOXO

Crockpot Fiesta Chicken.

A few weeks ago my Mom emailed me some easy recipes to try! They all also were cooked in the crockpot, and I LOVE my crockpot. Anything I can throw in there in the morning, turn on low and have dinner for us when I get home from work is a plus in my book! I also like anything that's easy!! Last week when I went for my weekly grocery shopping visit, I got the things for the three recipes. The one I tried yesterday evening was the first one I've made. It was called, "the easiest dinner ever" but I gave it my own name! :) I also put it into the weight watchers recipe builder to get the pointsplus value on it. It was pretty tasty! Clete and my sister both enjoyed it too. I think it goes best in tortillas for tacos. If you try, I hope you enjoy! (I forgot to get a picture...oops!)

Crockpot Fiesta Chicken
points+ value per serving: 7
* serving size 1 cup
+ 3 lbs chicken breast (You can season if you prefer, I think next time I will.)
+ 8 oz light cream cheese (I used Weight Watchers brand)
+ 1 can corn, drained
+ 1 can black beans, rinsed & drained (can substitute pinto beans if prefer)
+ 1 can rotel

Place frozen chicken into slow cooker. Top chicken with cream cheese, then add  beans, corn & rotel. Cook on low for 6-8 hours and then shred the chicken.

*Can be served over rice, in tortillas to make tacos, or over lettuce & chips as a southwest taco salad. YUMMY!

Christmas Cheer.

The tree at our house has been up for a while, but a few more touches of Christmas have been added to our house to make it more cheerful for the Christmas season. This past weekend we purchased lights for outside, but they have yet to hung since it's been like 28 degrees the past two days. I also made a wreath this past weekend for our front door and got a Christmas door mat. The porch is very simple, but it does have a little touch of Christmas to it. The wreath really needs some "finishing touches" added to it, but it is serving it's purpose for now. Hopefully I will have some time this week to liven it up a little bit and make it not so plain. I have a few ideas for it, but I'm not sure what I'll end up doing.

The other thing I need to figure out what to do with is our new stockings! Aren't they adorable? My Aunt Sharon hand made them for us so I must figure out where to hang them. Since we don't have a mantle, it makes hanging stockings a challenge. I also need to get a stocking for Honey. Of course, we can't leave her out! I plan to get them hung this week as well. I really want to have everything done before this weekend so I'll have two full weeks to enjoy it all before Christmas gets here! :)

I got our Christmas cards last weekend, and got them sent out in the mail today! Ann at Lovie and Dodge did a great job putting them together just how I imagined and I couldn't be happier with them! Merry Married Christmas!

*of course, this picture doesn't do it justice because it's just a iPhone picture of the actual card.
SO adorable in person!

Back To BootCamp.

Today was my first day back to bootcamp since the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, so I basically had two weeks of laziness. Of course there was no session on Thanksgiving, and then last week we had an off week so that turned in to me getting no workouts. Needless to say, today was a little rough for me. Lara kicked my booty today, but it felt good! I'm sure I'll be terribly sore tomorrow, but sometimes being sore is a good thing. It helps me know that I am actually doing things right! It was great to be back and see all the SP ladies. I love starting my day off the right way with a good workout! until next time. xoxo

December Goals.

Ready or not, December is here! Cold weather, boots, coats, hats, gloves, the smell of Christmas spice, shopping, lights, trees, Christmas music... it's the most wonderful time of the year! It's also one of the busiest times of the year with all the family gatherings, social events, parties, etc. that come along with the holiday season. As I sit here, I think back to this time last year... this week particular in 2010 was very exciting for us. We went under contract on our house, got engaged and started planning the wedding! But that's all for another post... it's just crazy how fast time really does fly by as you get older.

Back to goals... knowing that this is a very busy time of year I needed to consider that when making my goals for this month. Busyness isn't an excuse to give up on my healthy lifestyle, and my journey to becoming fit... so here goes my December goals.

1. Continue my journey with The Shape Project Bootcamp... after all, the more calories you burn the more you can eat!  ;)

2. Continue tracking my food intake and attending my Weight Watcher meetings...I know that my weight loss might slow a little during this month, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up. After all, I lost almost 2 lbs the week after Thanksgiving! So since I'm down a little over 5 lbs since returning back to WW, I will keep it up!

3. To not beat myself up when I slip up, but also to not over indulge... For me, this is most likely the time of the year where I will indulge and eat things I really shouldn't. I will let myself have a few treats and enjoy them, trying not to beat myself up over them or have too many.

These are my goals for December. I also need to be better about getting in a workout on the days I don't have bootcamp, but lately it's been difficult to get out of bed in the mornings for some reason. As the SP says... "Hibernating is for the bears!" So I need to start getting my butt out of bed and getting active. What are your goals for this month? It is a tough time of the year, but got to stay focused on the prize! until next time. xoxo

Just Another Weekend...

Our weekend wasn't really all that exciting. It was pretty low key, which was nice for a change! Especially since the next few will be busy with parties, weddings & Christmas! Friday evening I worked an event, then Saturday morning we had to have the Jeep at the dealership at 8AM. Thank goodness the factory warranty covered the piece of glass that had cracked! That was a HUGE blessing, since it was going to be around $600 to fix. After dropping the car off, Clete and I went to run some errands. We went to Lowe's, Target, Hobby Lobby and then had a breakfast date together. It was a nice little Saturday morning. We got our outside Christmas decor, which hopefully he'll get up today and I blog about that on another post.

Saturday afternoon I worked on getting the house straightened up and everything ready for the little Bedlam get together we had that evening. It was a good evening with friends, but embarrassing for the butt whoopin' OSU put on the Sooners. OSU showed up to play and they owned that game... guess there's always next year! ;)

Yesterday we just did our normal Sunday routine.  Church, lunch with friends, then home to clean house, do laundry and all that fun stuff. I only lack one gift to be done with Christmas shopping, and have almost everything wrapped too! I also addressed Christmas cards yesterday afternoon and plan to get those out this week. That's about all that went on at The Griffith's this weekend. until next time. xoxo
