this is a blessing.

i'm now well into my third trimester, and every day it seems like my bump grows a little bigger. our little man is now weighing in at over 3 lbs and is around 17 inches in length. with the end of this pregnancy journey approaching {which i'm beyond ready}, i must to continue to remind myself every day that being pregnant is a blessing. every bit of back pain, constantly being exhausted, puffy fingers and toes- it's all a blessing.

this is a blessing because there are plenty women out there is this world that would give anything to be able to carry child. i will never take this opportunity that god has given me for granted. pregnancy is a gift, and i will embrace it- even on the hard days.

hello, 3rd trimester!

This week, I hit another pregnancy milestone! I've now made it to 28 weeks, and have welcomed the 3rd and final trimester of this pregnancy. In just 3 short months we will welcome our little man into this world, and this mommy is beyond ready!

I also PASSED my glucose test! It wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated, and I was thankful to have passed. I see my doctor again on Monday, and we'll check up on the little man. I've still been very blessed to have had a smooth pregnancy. I am starting to get more uncomfortable as he continues to grow, but that's completely normal. I've heard these next 12 weeks could be the worse ones of this whole experience, but I'm certain that it'll all be worth it once I get hold him in my arms.

We were able to get a little tease today of what our sweet boy looks like. I had a 3D ultrasound, and it was amazing! I had happy tears in my eyes a couple of times, and now I'm even more anxious to meet my sweet boy!! He is already perfect- 10 fingers, 10 toes, looked like lots of hair, chubby cheeks and all boy! We are all already so in love with him- and we think he's pretty cute too!

He smiled, he frowned, and "played" peek a boo with us. He loved having his hands up around his face. It also looked like he already has lots of hair, so I'm anxious to see if he does when he's born. He's already stolen our hearts, and we can't wait to meet him! :) He now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds and is about 19 inches long. He still has some growing to do- but is looking to be right on the right track.

dear mac,
mommy & daddy already love you so much. we cannot wait to welcome you into this world, and hold you in our arms. there are lots of people anxious to meet you, and you are loved more than you will ever know. you've stolen all of our hearts. keep growing little man, and we'll continue to prepare to welcome you home. we love you sweet baby boy!

Out with the Old, In with the NEW!

As 2013 comes to a close, we all often reflect back on the previous year. We have accomplishments were proud of, goals we met, and most of have flaws that we still need to work on. A new year is one of the best (& easiest) times to set new goals for ourselves- it's just important that we remember to work on those goals as the year goes on.

One thing we've discussed and really want to work on in 2014 is better budgeting. With Mac joining us in just a few months, this will only continue to be more difficult as we will have another person to feed, clothe, etc. We both have good jobs and bring home good paychecks- we just need to be better about saving. I came across this link on Facebook, and this is one of the things we plan to do in 2014 to help save more.

Basically, you save how ever many dollars that week for the week of the year it is. The 1st week of the year, you put back $1. The 10th week, you put back $10. The 42nd week you put back $42, etc... by the end of one year, you will have saved $1,378.00.

We are planning to double this since we're a double income home. We will have one jar for us, and one jar to deposit into Mac's savings. Clete has done the calculation and if we were to follow this plan every year for Mac, by the time he's 18 we will have saved almost $25,000 for him by doing this alone.

I also have a few personal goals for myself to work on...
  • To not stress over things I have no control of. I am extremely guilty of worrying and stressing over things that are beyond my control. I often get worked up over things that are beyond my control or in my power to change. I want to worry less and enjoy more!
  • Spend less time on my iPhone. Let's face it- we live in a tech and social media centered world. Most of us are guilty of jumping on our phones first thing when we wake up and browsing social media right before laying our head on our pillow. I want to change this habit, and not be so "addicted" to my phone.
  • Always make time for me, and a healthy lifestyle. 2014 will bring about the biggest change of my life yet- I will become a mommy. I couldn't be more excited to fulfill this life long dream, but I also want to remember to make time for myself and for my marriage. It's important for Clete and I to be good examples for Mac- by taking care of ourselves and nourishing our relationship.
  • Spend more time with God. As I start this next chapter of life, I want to be more engaged in God's word and grow my relationship with him- not just in the times that I need him.

What are your goals for 2014?

Wishing you and yours have a safe and Happy New Year! May 2014 be a year full of health, happiness, prosperity, and blessings!

Merry Christmas- 25 weeks!

From our family to yours,
We wish you a very
Merry Christmas!

I hope you and yours had a wonderful day filled with lots of love, laughter, and good cheer!
We have been blessed, and had a good Christmas this year. We made Santa's nice list, again!
Now, it's time to get prepared for our little man's arrival. :)

Today also marks 25 weeks on this journey of pregnancy!
Mac is now 2 lbs and about 9-9.5 inches long! He's growing, and also becoming more active- or I'm just feeling him a lot more often! We are getting more and more anxious for him to arrive! It won't be too much longer. Daddy and Aunt KK (my sister) also have felt him kick- that was exciting and a great early Christmas present. :)

Over the weekend we got registered, and also got his bedroom furniture ordered. We are slowly making progress on getting prepared for his arrival. Soon after the first of the year, I plan to start working on his room. I've got good ideas, but so far haven't done anything.

I apologize for my absence on the blog lately. Life has just been so busy lately with everything that's going on, the blog has been a little abandoned. However, I am planning to be better about it. If you have an interest in being a guest blogger, please shoot me an email about doing a guest post. I'm always open to having guests here!

I hope you enjoy the last few days of 2013, and are looking forward to what the New Year will bring your way! I know we are looking forward to the what 2014 will bring. Again, Merry Christmas- and Happy New Year, too!
